Scope of Position
Scope of Job: This position will conduct maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of wind turbines and/or photovoltaic power and energy storage systems. The role includes learning and applying the core values of safety, teamwork, respect, passion, transparency, good sense, and accountability. Higher level technicians will also perform troubleshooting and repairs on one or more types of renewable energy generators.
Salary Range
The full pay range for this role is $21.35 to $50.29 per hour. The target range for this position is $28.00 to $40.00 per hour based on level. Salary decisions are based on internal equity, experience, education, and location.

Responsibilities
Lower‑level technicians will:
Assist with maintaining company property and equipment efficiently and safely.
Support higher‑level technicians by servicing equipment based on type, manufacturer, routine maintenance, new equipment installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair.
Assist with testing electrical components and mechanical and hydraulic systems, and collecting equipment data for analysis.
Work safely at all times and seek guidance for unfamiliar or unsafe work.
Attend required safety and technical training.
Work respectfully in a team environment and apply EDFNA core values.
Handle administrative duties (documenting completed jobs, supply orders, daily work orders, time tracking, paperwork).
Higher‑level technicians will:
Perform unsupervised corrective and preventative maintenance on utility‑scale renewable energy assets, plants, and energy storage systems, including advanced testing, live electrical work, and use of advanced testing equipment such as infrared camera, IV curve tracer, multimeter, ammeter, inclinometers, megohmmeter, pyranometers, and albedometers.
Inspect and maintain HV systems, substation collection and distribution systems, and satisfy NERC inspections and required maintenance.
Inspect and maintain renewable energy assets; recommission PV and energy storage systems, performing insulation testing, insolation,
irradiance performance testing, IV curve testing, thermal/infrared imagery, torque testing, battery capacity and efficiency testing, and performance evaluations.
Collaborate with engineering teams as subject‑matter experts for continuous improvement (upgrades, retrofits, revisions).
Train and oversee technicians (Techs 1‑3) and sign off on their competency.
Conduct site safety assessments, team engagement visits, equipment inspections, identify safety hazards, lead daily safety meetings, and document safety requirements.
Accurately complete maintenance logs, warranty and inventory documentation, service orders, timecards, and reports.
Participate in 24/7 on‑call rotation and monitor systems to identify system performance errors and resets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision of Others
Renewable Energy Technicians level 3 and above may oversee and train lower‑level technicians, and may supervise site crew and contractors where required.
Working Conditions
80‑100% of the time spent working in the renewable asset field; up to 20% in the office using computers, phones, and office equipment.
Requires work on platforms or skids with appropriate PPE and repetitive use of limbs; standard shift is 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, with overtime and night shifts as required.
Exposure to extreme weather, high voltage, stored energy, moving mechanical parts, vibration, confined spaces, and moderate noise levels.
Support site budget by ensuring costs remain within budget and maintenance/repairs are timely.
Physical Requirements
Must meet weight restrictions associated with fall‑arrest equipment; maximum employee weight (wind only) 285 lbs.
Regularly use hands, fingers, reach; good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity for small parts and tools.
Good vision and hearing for hazard detection and communication.
Ability to stand, crouch, walk, and work for extended periods; operate company vehicles (field trucks) on site and on public roads.
Regularly lift or move up to 35 pounds and frequently up to 50 pounds.
Work in electrical‑mechanical environments; climb ladders, stairs, structures up to 91 meters (300 feet) and into towers, nacelles, and extreme heights.
Comfortable working in various weather conditions, heat, cold, wind, rain, and confined spaces.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1 year of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Preferred Certifications:
OSHA 10 or equivalent certification.
Basic Safety Training (BST) under Global Wind Organization.
Basic Technical Training (BTT) under Global Wind Organization.
Control of Hazardous Energies (CoHE) under Global Wind Organization.
Slinger and Signaler certification under Global Wind Organization.
NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B or equivalent certification.
Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Valid current driver’s license.
Skill in advanced diagnostic tools and system software.
Ability to communicate, coach, instruct, and train less experienced technicians.
Proficiency with safety documentation, service/work orders, and other job‑related forms.
Proficiency with mechanical and electrical schematics, drawings, technical data, and construction documents.
Skilled use of electrical test instruments for current, voltage, resistance measurements on energized and de‑energized circuits.
Understanding of renewable energy systems theory and sub‑components.
Knowledge of fastener types and techniques.
Knowledge of electrical safety and arc flash standards.
Advanced working knowledge of solar industry best practices, NEC requirements, and diagnosis/repair of solar generators and energy storage systems.
Knowledge of EDF power solutions policies and procedures.
Familiarity with testing and measuring equipment (multimeters, ammeters, inclinometers, pyranometers, albedometers, megohmmeters, IV curve tracers, infrared cameras).
Ability to train other technicians in the company’s policies and procedures.
Ability to work well with contractors during project phases.
English speaking, reading, writing and listening skills.
Working knowledge of the National Electric Code and industry related OSHA regulations.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Familiarity with SaaS, DAS, CMMS, Microsoft Office, ECRM, and OEM SCADA systems.
