ERM is hiring Field Technicians to join our global consulting firm as part of our archaeology and cultural heritage team in Whitehorse/Mayo, YT . The successful candidate will work with our team to complete archaeological field surveys. This is a full-time, limited-term role for a duration of 3 months, renewable.
Responsibilities
Participating in survey and shovel testing.
Assisting an ERM Archaeologist with data collection.
Working in a team setting to meet productivity and safety goals.
Requirements
A Degree in Anthropology (with a focus in archaeology) or in Archaeology preferred.
0-3 years of archaeological survey and impact assessment experience.
Applicants enrolled in a degree granting university who have completed a field school in archaeology are encouraged to apply.
Prior archaeological field school experience a plus.
Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain.
Working knowledge of archaeological survey and impact assessment protocols.
Ability to work 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation.
Ability to work in the field for extended periods of time.
Fieldwork is shift-work and is scheduled as up to five, 12-day shifts (including two travel days) to assist with pedestrian survey and shovel testing of landforms identified as having high archaeological potential and recording archaeological sites.
The field surveys will include travel via truck and/or helicopter, and walking in variable terrain to observe, identify and record heritage features.
The successful candidate(s)
will be expected to travel from their home location to stay in camp for the duration of the shift. Accommodation, meals, and transportation will be provided.
Pay Transparency
For the Field Technician position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $52,000 – $63,211.20, $25.00/hr – $30.39/hr CAD. This is a limited-term, non-exempt role. The pay within this range is based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business needs. Employees may fall outside the range based on these factors. This role may be eligible for bonus pay; casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible.
Benefits
Benefits eligibility is limited to regular employees scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week. Fixed‑term employees (including Flexforce) who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours per week or more are eligible for a limited benefits package. Casual employees are NOT benefits eligible.
