Early Childhood Educator – Term/Part-time
Department: Education.

Location: TrʼondëkHwëchʼin Offices – Dawson, YT.

Posting Date: May 13, 2026. Closing Date: May 26, 2026.

Standard Hours: Bi‑Weekly up to 30 hours per week. Start Date: Immediately. End Date: One (1) year from start date.

Salary: Level 2‑5.5 ($28.13 ‑ $44.89 hourly, depending on YG childcare level designation).

Reporting to the Tr’inke Zho Manager, this position is responsible for supervising children ages 18 months to 12 years, carrying out section programs, and ensuring YG regulations are followed.

Work in close partnership with other Early Childhood Educators, including the Aboriginal Head Start Teacher(s), to care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school‑aged children attending Tr’inke Zho.

Essential Qualifications

Post‑secondary certificate, diploma or coursework in Early Childhood Education or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, skills and abilities.





YG Level 1 Early Childhood Educator designation or currently completing two 45‑hour ECE courses to obtain Level 1 certification. (Wage level commensurate with certification level).

Experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school‑aged children in an early childhood setting or related workplace.

Experience working in a team environment.

Experience or knowledge working with First Nation children and families.

Knowledge of early childhood development theory, principles and practices.

Knowledge of YG Child Care regulations.

Ability to receive and follow written and verbal directions.

Conditions of Employment

Criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Medical clearance, TB test and open immunization record.

Standard First Aid Certification and CPR.

TH101 Cultural Awareness Training.
