Express Employment Professionals Surrey/ Langley office’s client, is a global producer of Lime, Dolime and processed minerals located in the Port Kells area of north Langley BC is looking to hire a Production Operator. The position is responsible for filling, palletizing and loading bagged limestone, quicklime and hydrated lime products, as well as various other duties as assigned around the plant to ensure the operation runs smoothly.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Responsible for the proper filling of bag products to comply with specifications and customer requirements.

Ensure proper operation and care of packaging equipment to maximize bag filling efficiency and maintain bag weight accuracy.

Ability to operate, problem solve, and make necessary adjustments to the Bag Packers, Palletizer and Stretch Wrappers.

Continuously inspect all bagging related equipment to detect mechanical problems and ensure employee safety.

Perform a wide variety of general manual labour work, requiring repetitive heavy lifting, shoveling, handwork, climbing, and performing work at different heights.

Assist in any equipment operation and servicing when needed using basic tools to accomplish the work such as shovels, brooms, wheelbarrows, etc.

Cleaning of spilled lime and limestone product and residue on top of, under and out of different locations throughout the plant.

Perform all work assigned in a neat and orderly manner adhering to Lhoist safety rules and WorkSafe regulations.

Report any potential operational or safety problems to management.

seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.

Must have a telephone and be open to call-outs.

Effectively communicate and interact with coworkers, supervisors, and managers.

Physical Demands Include, but are Not Limited to

Must be physically able to perform work assigned.

Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.

Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 150 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.

Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment.

The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles.

The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.

Ability to occasionally repetitively lift/carry 50 pounds.

Required Education

High school diploma.

Preferred Experience

Minimum of previous labor experience in an industrial manufacturing setting is preferred.

Troubleshooting skills, critical thinking ability.

Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desired.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

Basic computer proficiency.

You need a vehicle as transit is very limited to the area.

Pay Rate: $30.44 per hour.

This is a Direct Hire position.

It is a temporary position until the end of September and may have an opportunity to move full time afterward.
