Written and spoken competency in one of the two official languages (English or French) is required; spoken competency in the other official language is also required.

Job Summary
Ambulance Current Brunswick is the provincial ambulance service provider. The Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) operates on the Patient Transfer Unit, providing medical support to patients on scene and en route to hospitals. They respond to approximately 130,000 calls per year and transport patients by ambulance. PCPs are expected to be skilled in emergency techniques, well‑versed in various medical treatments and remain at the scene until the job is complete.

Duties of Position
Clinical expectations and responsibilities for Primary Care Paramedics are based on the current National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP) for Primary Care Paramedics, Paramedic Association of New Brunswick registration requirements, and Ambulance NB policies, procedures and protocols.

Qualifications

Entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or work permit).

Demonstrated ability to work efficiently as a member of a team and availability for all shifts as assigned.

High regard for confidentiality and patient safety.





Completion of a Primary Care Paramedic program or course of over six months.

Registered, active Paramedic with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick.

Valid New Brunswick Class 4 driver’s licence (or equivalent).

Application Requirements

Current resume and cover letter.

Copy of PCP diploma from an accredited institution.

Proof of current registration with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick.

Proof of completion of a Physical Abilities Test (PAT) specific to working as a paramedic within the last 12 months.

Proof of valid CPR level C certification issued in the last 12 months.

Photocopy of the front and back of a valid Class 4 driver’s licence with a minimum of one year driving experience.

Driver’s abstract issued within the last 30 days.

Copy of any valid driver’s course certificate (e.g., CEVO, VFIS, NS VSP) issued within the last three years.

Criminal record with vulnerable‑sector check issued within the last 30 days.

Immunization record (Tetanus Tdap, 2 MMR vaccines or lab‑evidenced immunity, 2 Varicella vaccines or lab‑evidenced immunity, 3 Hepatitis B doses, TB skin test) up to date.

Valid official‑language assessments (oral) in both French and English from the Department of Post‑secondary Education, Training and Labour; note the additional time required.

Additional training and/or education is highly valued.
