Introduction
This position is designed for early professional hires, specifically university students, who are eager to learn and grow in the technology and community management field. As a Technology Advocate intern, you will have the opportunity to work on various projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the success of the IBM TechXchange team.

Your role and responsibilities
This role is based in Ottawa, Ontario. As a Technology Advocate intern you will participate in the IBM TechXchange Client Advocacy Program, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver webinars, virtual events, and local experiences that foster continuous learning and skill development. Your work will involve engaging with the IBM Community platform, contributing to forums, blogs, tutorials and events, and supporting the organization of annual conferences, workshops, and labs.
Required education
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred education
Bachelor’s Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
Currently enrolled in an accredited university in a relevant program (e.g., Marketing, Commerce, Business, Computer Science, Engineering)
Available for a 12–16 month internship commencing May 4, 2026
A strategic, consultative,
data‑driven mindset
Passionate about data science, data, analytics, technology or a related field
Fluent in English; strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred technical and professional experience
Experience with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
Knowledge or experience with Airtable, Adobe Products and Event Software
Familiarity with cloud platforms (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
Experience with social media platforms
Familiarity with community management tools such as Higher Logic, Hivebrite or Khoros
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java
Work Eligibility
Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
This role will involve working with technology that is covered by Export Regulations sanctions. If you are a foreign national from any of the following US sanctioned countries (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia regions of Ukraine) on a work permit, you are not eligible for employment in this position.
