About the Role
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Abbotsford, BC (and surrounding areas)
We are seeking an ASTTBC Registered Fire Protection Technician to perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on fire and life‑safety systems in accordance with the BC Fire Code, NFPA standards, and ASTTBC requirements.
This role involves daily travel to customer sites across the Lower Mainland (Fraser Valley, Metro Vancouver, and Squamish). Work is typically assigned within reasonable proximity to your home base, but travel throughout the service area is required.
You will work directly with customers, complete accurate reports, and help ensure their properties remain safe and compliant.
Open to both experienced technicians and newer certified candidates who demonstrate strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
Conduct inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, sprinkler and suppression systems (based on certification level).
Complete transparent, detailed inspection reports and deficiency notes in a timely manner.
Communicate professionally with clients and internal team members.
Diagnose system issues and perform repairs as required.
Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle.
Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
Requirements
ASTTBC Fire Protection Technician Certification (required).
Preference to candidates with one or more endorsements (FE, FA, EM, SI, SD, etc.).
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to perform physical work, including lifting equipment, climbing ladders, and working at various job sites.
Preferred Experience
Experience in fire protection or a related trade is an asset (not required).
Familiarity with digital inspection/reporting systems.
Experience with fire alarm troubleshooting and repairs.

Schedule
Monday to Friday with an evening and weekend on‑call rotation.
