Position Details The Position: Utility Arborist (UTT)
Type: Full time
Reports To: Project Manager
About the Company Wright Tree Service of Canada, a business unit of Wright Canada Holdings, provides vegetation management, storm restoration, and work planning services to utility companies and their communities across North America.
Pay & Benefits Pay rate: $35 to $40 per hour.

Equipment: All equipment needed provided, except your CSA Certified Work Boots.
Shifts: Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities Trim, prune, and remove trees and branches that pose a risk to power lines, poles, and other utility infrastructure.
Conduct regular inspections of areas around power lines to assess potential hazards posed by trees or branches.
Work in both urban and rural environments, managing vegetation near overhead and underground utility lines.
Use specialized techniques to safely bring down trees without damaging surrounding property, infrastructure, or utility equipment.
Operate power tools and equipment such as chainsaws, pole saws, aerial lifts, chipper trucks, stump grinders, and cranes to perform tree trimming and removal.
Train and supervise crew members to ensure that safety procedures are followed, especially when working around high‑voltage electrical equipment.
Maintain records of tree maintenance activities, including tree removal, pruning schedules,



and any damage caused by vegetation to utility infrastructure.
Track vegetation management progress and document completed work for utility records or regulatory compliance.
Ensure work is done in compliance with environmental regulations, minimizing damage to natural habitats and wildlife.
Perform other duties as required.
Experience and Knowledge Certified Utility Arborist (CUA or UA) or Utility Tree Trimmer (UTT), or ability to challenge exam.
Basic knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license with less than 6 demerits.
Complete pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening.
Current First Aid with CPR or willingness to obtain.
Ability to lift, move and maneuver up to 50 pounds infrequently and up to 30 pounds frequently.
Ability to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather and environmental conditions.
Must adhere to the company’s Drug and Alcohol policy.
