$40.55 per hour

Responsibilities

Inspects, troubleshoots, repairs and tests rail car equipment

Performs preventive maintenance work

Works from blueprints

Uses hand tools and various testing devices and instruments

Operates equipment such as overhead or mobile cranes and forklifts to assist with assignments

Adapts to new methods, processes, materials and equipment

Follows prescribed safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and equipment

May work various shifts and on weekends and some work outdoors in adverse weather

Qualifications

High School Diploma (OSSD) or General Education Diploma (GED)

Certificate of Qualification as Railway Car Technician 268R or within final year of apprenticeship in the same identified trade

Must be mechanically inclined

Available for shift work

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

Knowledge of safety codes and has demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious manner





Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and walk on rough terrain

Valuable interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written)

Commitment to Health and Safety

Must have a valid driver’s license

Must pass a criminal record check, employment references, and education verification
