This role plays a key part in managing legal risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enabling effective decision-making across the business.Working closely with operational leaders at Haile Gold Mine, you will advise on a broad mix of corporate, commercial, employment, procurement, and dispute-related matters, while also contributing to the development of legal processes that support strong governance.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Business: provide legal counsel across multiple areas of business law related to an organization’s legal rights and obligations,



including:Providing legal advice in areas such as corporate law, real estate, tax, business litigation, transactions/anti-trust, compliance, intellectual property, employment/labor, corporate governance, ethics, etc.Researching, analyzing, and interpreting proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations.Identifying, evaluating, and addressing issues of legal risk.Structuring, drafting, negotiating and/or approving legal contracts, letters of agreement, policies and other documents related to a variety of trade, commercial, financial, and operational matters.In-house counsel may liaise with external legal counsel on complex legal issues.Collaborating with others on large projects, with oversight from leaders.Problems faced are often complex.QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) or LL.B. from an accredited law school.Admission to the Bar in the Province of British Columbia or another Canadian province.ExperienceMinimum of 6+ years post-qualification experience in a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal team.Mining industry experience beneficial but not required.Experience advising U.S.-based clients or supporting U.S.
