Position Summary
As a Lead Industrial Electrician 422A/309A, you are responsible for contributing to the company’s operational performance through maintenance program compliance and work order management, including reactive, corrective, and preventative maintenance for all technical and non‑technical components.

Primary Responsibilities
Overall Responsibilities

Demonstrate and uphold Riverside Natural Food’s Core Values.

Direct and lead maintenance staff in everyday scheduling, preventative maintenance, repair of all production equipment, and resolve equipment‑related issues.

Collaborate with the Maintenance team, Planner and Parts Clerk to maintain equipment and parts inventory, using available resources to continuously minimize downtime and organize the Maintenance Workshop.

Conduct major equipment repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds to ensure that equipment is fully operational, safe to operate, and within schedule requirements.

Ensure staff are well trained in health and safety standards and proper environmental practices within the plant and the Maintenance Department.

Be the embodiment and example of adaptability and composure in times of volatility, uncertainty, and ambiguity.

Provide support to the team across all weekdays and shifts as needed in instances of vacation or other circumstances.

Be the first adopter of new maintenance strategies and initiatives, encouraging participation and adoption among the team.

Use CMMS and provide feedback to add value to the maintenance strategy.

Develop and maintain a continuous‑improvement mindset among technicians.

Provide and document continuous feedback to all technicians to continuously develop skills and motivate them.

Maintenance Responsibilities

Understand and lead compliance with both Health and Safety and Food Safety practices.

Inspect, maintain, adjust, and repair food processing equipment and machinery to ensure the equipment is always in proper working order.

Ensure maintenance activities meet the required standards of precise, highly automated equipment.

Ensure the Maintenance team members are responsive to production needs and equipment failures.

Conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) on complicated and/or recurring automation failure modes, including reaching out to third‑party vendors, performing risk analysis, evaluating potential causes, and assessing data.

Independently conduct or coordinate the following assigned activities:

Equipment set‑up and changeover.

High‑quality, documented preventative and reactive maintenance.

Assist with facilities renovation and maintenance as necessary.

Test and observe equipment and machinery using tools such as ultrasounds, voltmeters and other testing devices to troubleshoot malfunctions and make repairs as needed.

Take ownership and work independently without supervision, meeting tight deadlines.

Prepare notes on learnings, contribute to procedures, share observations and training with the broader maintenance team for overall growth and development.

Contribute to maintenance reports by collecting and summarizing information.

Exemplify grit in the pursuit of resolving emergency repairs, troubleshooting, and creating a harmonious and effective maintenance team.

Record all maintenance and repair services performed, keeping track of all materials and parts used during the repair process.

Demonstrate knowledge sharing by mentoring, training, and guiding junior and other maintenance technicians.

Suggest and implement continuous‑improvement projects to improve equipment performance.





Keep the work atmosphere fun by keeping it light and welcoming.

Assist with troubleshooting, evaluate and implement improvements to mitigate repeat issues in the plants.

Perform regular technical and non‑technical component monitoring, inspection and repairs, including preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.

Ensure all work meets quality, contract response and all other requirements.

Assist in the implementation of a preventive maintenance program, ensuring that deficiencies are identified, recorded, and escalated, and that related documents are maintained.

Ensure facilities are always kept to GMP, CFIA and BRC standards, and participate in preparation for audits and inspections.

Exemplify respect in working relationships with all key internal stakeholders (maintenance team, other department peers, parts clerk, procurement officer, etc.) and external stakeholders (suppliers, contractors, OEM representatives, etc.).

Identify gaps (skills, knowledge, core values) within the maintenance team and take appropriate steps to address them.

Be responsible for the highest standards of housekeeping and safety in all aspects of the job.

Flexibility to work day, afternoon and night shifts temporarily to support production, based on the need for coverage.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Administration Responsibilities

Collaborate with the planner to provide feedback, schedule, and prioritize related work orders.

Ensure that maintenance/service work is performed as required while following GMP and food‑building compliance.

Participate in continuous‑improvement projects as required.

Assist in enhancing customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through a positive and enthusiastic work ethic.

Contribute to and participate in performance assessments of other technicians.

Document, coordinate, and facilitate effective pre‑shift and handover meetings to ensure smooth transitions between shifts.

Reporting Relationships

This position reports directly to the Maintenance shift lead, Maintenance Supervisor.

This position collaborates with the Production personnel, Maintenance Planner, Production Supervisors and Production Leads.

Key Performance Indicators

Equipment uptime vs. availability.

Preventive maintenance schedule completion rate.

Corrective work‑order completion rate.

Reactive work‑order completion.

Punctuality.

Attendance.

Mean time to repair (MTTR).

Technician’s job description compliance.

Embodying Riverside’s core values.

Education & Qualifications

Must have Industrial/Maintenance Electrician 422A and/or 309A certification.

Working experience with vertical wrapper, horizontal wrapper, robotic pick‑and‑place, and tunnel oven equipment is an asset.

Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, robotics, HMIs, and controls (Allen‑Bradley and Siemens PLCs) preferred.

Ability to read technical drawings, procedures and electrical schematics.

Hands‑on experience with power‑transmission systems, electrical and electronic controls, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, welding, brazing, soldering, servo and electric motors, lubrication types and systems.





Proven machining skills using lathes, milling, and drill press.

Rigging and hoisting experience is an asset.

Skills & Abilities

1‑3 years of leadership experience – leading a team of millwrights or electricians on a shift.

Strong electrical knowledge and balanced mechanical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Exceptional utilization of CMMS.

Effective trainer and mentor.

Salary Range
$40 CAD – $47 CAD.
