Role Overview
CityKidz is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our CityYouth team as Youth Mentors. This role involves working closely with young people, providing guidance and mentorship, and participating in organized activities to promote personal development and community engagement. During your shift as a CityYouth Mentor, you will have the opportunity to form deep connections, and impact the lives of youth from ages 12-18 through games, lessons, and small group time, helping them to transition into post-secondary education or the workforce, alongside other CityYouth mentors.

Responsibilities

Engage with young people in a positive and supportive manner, fostering a protected and inclusive setting

Act as a mentor and role model, offering guidance, advice, and support to young participants

Facilitate a small group with other mentors

Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and positive social interaction among youth through games, lessons and in small groups

Uphold and promote the organization’s values, policies, and goals while interacting with youth and other volunteers

Who this Role is For

Students, retirees, caregivers, or anyone who enjoys interacting with kids and youths

Those aspiring to transition into human support-centered personal and skilled endeavors

Skills & Qualifications

Minimum age 21+ (required)

Experience working in a youth-based environment (preferred)

Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with youth and other mentors, conveying empathy and support

Ability to work well under pressure and take initiative

Good judgment and evaluation skills to assess the needs of youth and how to come alongside them

Time Commitment
Minimum four‑month commitment is required, for at least 3x a month but preferably weekly. Shifts: Wednesdays through March, June, September to December. Shifts: 5:30pm‑9:00pm or 6:00pm‑9:30pm.
