Department: General Medical Nursing Unit – Medicine – Vic Level 6

Employment Terms: Temporary part‑time (0.5 FTE, 56 hours per 3 weeks)

Start Date: July 6, 2026

End Date: October 17, 2026

Responsibilities
Ensures all work is in alignment with the organization's missions, goals, values, and strategic plans to promote high-quality, safe client care. Accomplishes this by assisting in establishing and maintaining best practice; assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating unit orientation, in‑servicing, and other educational programming; assessing learning needs; acting as a clinical resource; promoting client and family‑centered care; participating in committee work as assigned; participating in continuous improvement activities; developing and maintaining client and staff resources.



The incumbent functions as a member of the interprofessional clinical team to promote effective delivery of client care, including regular direct communication and input from unit managers of Nursing.

Qualifications

3–5 years experience with palliative care clients

Five years clinical experience in the specific department/area

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)

Basic Life Support Instructor Certificate (BLS)

Qualified Assault Response Training (PART)

Palliative care medical intensive course

ACLS training required upon hire

Communication skills to provide and obtain verbal and/or written opinions/advice

Organizational skills
