About This Opportunity
Make a difference after school by becoming a Running & Reading Club Mentor with Start2Finish. This unique program promotes literacy, healthy active living, and play for children aged 6–13 (Grades 1–6). Just one afternoon a week for two hours, you’ll support students through meaningful activities that help them stay in school, build self‑confidence, and form positive relationships with peers and mentors.
You don’t need to be a runner—there’s a role for everyone.
Responsibilities
Participate in fun fitness activities.
Read one‑on‑one with children.
Help serve healthy snacks.
Lead or support engaging literacy games and activities.
Program Details
Location: Belvedere School, 13359 62 St. NW, Edmonton, AB T5A 0V5.
Schedule: Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.
Volunteer Requirements
Willing to undergo a background or police records check.
Agreement to the volunteer code of conduct.
Comfortable commuting to the chance location.
Minimum 16 years old.
Skills & Experience
Experience with special needs or teaching assistance.
Teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience.
Coaching or sports experience.
Literacy and reading facilitation skills.
Community development and outreach experience.
Comfortable working with children, active listening, and teamwork.
