Job Description: The Assistant Head Nurse supports the Health Services Manager in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing services in alignment with Saskatchewan Health Authority policies. The role includes providing direct client care, promoting health, preventing illness and injury, offering supportive and emergency services, and collaborating with other health professionals.
The Assistant Head Nurse oversees client care delivery, supervises staff and volunteers in the Managers absence, ensures effective facility operations, and assists with new employee orientation.
Experience
Minimum 5 years clinical experience in nursing
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
Other Education and Training
Nursing diploma is acceptable
Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing is acceptable
Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Level C Certificate (CPR)
Knowledge and Abilities
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook)
Ability to coach, mentor and develop others
Requires sound knowledge of nursing process
Leadership skills to ensure positive outcomes in care
Ability to promote a collaborative and team approach
Ability to lead best practice
Strong interpersonal skills
