Job Description:Sky Sight Inc. is seeking an Ontario Land Surveyor (OLS) to join our team on a full time, permanent basis. This role is ideal for a licensed OLS with both field and office experience who is comfortable leading cadastral and topographic survey work and contributing across a range of residential, commercial, and development projects.The successful candidate will act as the lead OLS within the firm’s growing surveying services, helping to establish practical workflows and processes within a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities:Act as the Designated Ontario Land Surveyor responsible for supervising, reviewing, and sealing all survey work in accordance with the Surveyors Act (Ontario) and applicable regulationsContribute to the establishment and maintenance of survey practice standards, procedures, and QA/QC systems in line with AOLS requirementsPlan and execute cadastral and topographic surveys, including boundary analysis, reference plans, site plans, grading, and construction layoutPrepare, stamp, and seal survey drawings, grading plans, and associated legal documents for submission to land registry offices and municipalitiesConduct as-built surveys, volume calculations, and certification drawings as requiredProvide input on project planning, including scope definition, effort estimation, and survey-related considerations within zoning and development approvalsAssist with proposal preparation, client coordination, and project deliveryCoordinate and oversee field operations, including data collection (GNSS, total stations), control networks, and crew supervisionEnsure compliance with applicable legislation (including the Surveys Act, Land Titles Act, and Registry Act) and maintain high standards of accuracy and documentationParticipate in both field and office work, including data processing, drafting,
and reportingMentor staff and act as Articling Principal where applicableWork with modern survey technology including Leica GNSS, robotic total stations, LiDAR scanning, and drone-based data capture (DJI M350 RTK)Contribute to the development and growth of the firm’s surveying and geospatial servicesWork collaboratively to develop efficient and practical workflows for project deliveryManage multiple projects concurrently and balance field and office responsibilitiesEnsure adherence to health and safety policies during field operationsRegular field work required, including early mornings, outdoor conditions, and travel within Southern Ontario Requirements:Ontario Land Surveyor (OLS), in good standing with AOLS5+ years of survey experience in Ontario (cadastral and topographic)Experience preparing and sealing survey plans and submitting through OnLand / TeranetStrong boundary research experience (parcel registers, abstracts, historical plans)Proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D (AutoCAD-based workflows)Experience with GNSS (RTK/NTRIP), total stations, and field data collection workflowsStrong knowledge of the Surveys Act, Land Titles Act, Registry Act, and Ontario coordinate systemsExperience with construction layout (foundation pinning, grid layout, offsets)Familiarity with municipal development approvals (site plan, consent,
subdivision)Strong communication and technical writing skillsValid Ontario G-class driver’s licence and ability to perform field work Assets:Experience with LiDAR scanning and point cloud processing (e.G., ReCap)Experience with RPAS / drone operations (Transport Canada Advanced certification considered an asset)Experience with Leica software (Captivate, Infinity)Experience with scan-to-CAD / scan-to-BIM workflowsFamiliarity with Autodesk AEC software and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)Experience supporting litigation or expert witness workExperience with grading certification, monitoring, or hydrographic surveys About Us:Sky Sight Inc. is a small, growing AEC consulting firm based in Burlington, Ontario, providing architectural design, engineering, interior design, and geospatial services across residential, commercial, and development projects.As a BCIN-registered design firm, we support projects from planning approvals through to construction documentation and site execution, using modern workflows including LiDAR scanning, drone mapping, and BIM.We are expanding our in-house surveying capabilities as a core part of our growth. This role offers the opportunity to help shape workflows, influence technology decisions, and build an integrated survey and geospatial practice within a collaborative, hands-on team.
