About the role
The Safety & FSQ Trainer will be responsible to facilitate and deliver training for the onsite FSQ teams and serve as an SME for other departments, as well as supporting FSQ training activities. This will include, but is not limited to, creating and updating training manuals for each FSQ position, development, maintenance and training of SOPs, JSAs, one‑point lessons, and training tracking matrix. The Safety and FSQ Trainer will work with FSQ Supervisors to observe training of FSQ personnel and document training performance for each trainee. In addition, the Safety & FSQ Trainer will also be the onsite trainer for all personnel at the Coaldale site who require training in H2S, Confined Space, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and 1st Aid, and will need to maintain training records and documentation related to these courses and associated certifications. Additional onsite training provided will include Personal Fall Protection (PFP) and Scissor/Boom Lift, in order to support other training personnel in the Training Department.

What you’ll be doing

Efficiently administer and schedule on‑job training.

Manage all documentation related to relevant and required training for employees.

Develop, communicate and coordinate training plans for FSQ employees in conjunction with their supervisors and adjust plans when necessary.

Keep supervisors informed of all conditions affecting the training process.

Create and maintain training materials, including training manuals, SOPs, JSAs, one‑point lessons, checklists, tests, reviews, etc.

Facilitate, schedule, and document vendor training.

Evaluate the progress of training and analyze the effectiveness of training procedures and materials.

Treat people with respect, follow up on commitments, and strive to uphold organizational values.

Actively look and seek out areas of improvement and develop innovative and creative solutions to problems with the training process.

Maintain the confidentiality of trainees, trainers, supervisors, and managers.

Speak clearly in front of large groups and deliver training effectively.





Write clearly and informatively and be able to read and interpret written information.

Use time efficiently by prioritizing and planning required work activities.

Communicate any problems or changes in the working environment to appropriate personnel.

Understand and adhere to concepts and techniques of the quality process.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Language Skills
Must have the ability to read and comprehend complex technical instructions, correspondence, and memos such as safety rules, operating instructions, and technical operation and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write clear and concise correspondence and routine reports. Effectively present and train on maintenance topics and provide information in one‑on‑one and group situations to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply a reasonable person understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Qualifications
Associated diploma, degree, and/or technical certification with prior leadership experience is preferred. Twelve months related experience and/or some combination of college or technical courses and experience. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with passing score on the mechanical job skills test. Demonstrated training experience would be an asset, such as Train the Trainer or other training certifications.

Intermediate computer skills; experience with SAP an asset.

Regular exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, fumes and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, vibration, and variable noise levels.

Advantages of the role

Pay range: $34.57 (minimum) to $35.26 (maximum) per hour, with bonus eligibility and hourly pay differential for applicable shifts.
