Position Title: Equipment Maintenance Technician
Position Type: Temporary - Full-Time

About The Role
McCain Farms is seeking an experienced Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our Fall Harvest team. This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing grading equipment and conveyor systems to ensure efficient and safe harvest operations. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical maintenance experience and can work effectively in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
What you’ll be doing
Perform mechanical breakdown repairs and proactive maintenance on grading equipment, conveyor belts, and related machinery
Line conveyor belts to ensure proper alignment and operation
Replace and grease bearings as part of preventative maintenance routines
Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage and hot work permits (training provided as needed)
Safely lift and transport materials weighing 25–50 lbs
Operate effectively in outdoor environments, including inclement weather
Monitor equipment condition and provide timely feedback to Supervisor/Manager
Demonstrate reliability and maintain strong attendance throughout the harvest season
Work both independently and collaboratively with team members
Respond quickly to breakdowns and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
Experience with grading equipment, conveyor systems, and mechanical components
Proficiency in belt lining, bearing replacement, and lubrication practices
Skilled in using hand and power tools (e.g., wrenches, grease guns, alignment gauges)
Ability to read and follow maintenance schedules and repair manuals
Strong understanding of safety practices and risk awareness
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to adapt and work with urgency
Physical capability to perform material handling and outdoor tasks
Experience in farming or agricultural environments considered an asset
Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license considered an asset
Ability to weld is considered an asset
