Food Service Worker – Sechelt Hospital, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), Sechelt, BC

Salary: CAD $25.82 per hour.

This is a casual/on‑call position within a unionised environment. All vacancies are posted internally for current employees to apply.

Responsibilities

Portion and serve meals; check patient/resident meals for dietary accuracy.

Assist with food production by washing, peeling, slicing, dicing, grinding, blending, and pureeing vegetables, fruit, and other ingredients.

Prepare coffee/tea, toast, desserts, sandwiches, salads, and diet items in accordance with nutritional plans.

Wash dishes, pots, and kitchen equipment; clean food wagons, fridges, storage areas, tables, and counters.

Sweep and mop floors; remove garbage.

Deliver wagons/trays to patient/resident units; retrieve and store food items.

Replenish food, beverage, and paper supplies.

Perform related clerical duties; operate a cash register and related equipment, receive payments and provide change.

Answer customer queries.

Qualifications





Grade 10 plus one year of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Food Safe Certificate Level 1.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to deal with others effectively.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Ability to organise work.

Ability to operate related equipment.
