Description

The Health & Safety Manager plays a crucial role in promoting a positive health and safety culture in the workplace ensuring compliance with safety legislation and safety policies. The position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining health, safety and wellness programs and procedures.

What you will be responsible for:

Promote and champion a strong safety culture through regular presence on the hangar floor, proactive hazard identification, risk assessments, inspections, and timely corrective actions

Develop, implement, communicate, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and programs that comply with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, and company standards

Interprets and provides guidance and advice to all departments pertaining to the Canada Labour Code Part II and associated Regulations ensuring the facility is in compliance with Federal legislation and company policy

Responsible for effective claims management including investigation of incidents, completion of required forms,



reporting on all workplace injury cases and managing return to work program

Oversee WSIB claims management and cost-containment initiatives, monitor trends, and provide reporting and recommendations to management.

Analyze workplace safety performance by tracking incidents, injuries, near misses, and trends; identify root causes and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintains records of safety incidents, training and all compliance documentation

Serve as Management Co-Chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), providing leadership and ensuring committee responsibilities, inspections, corrective actions, and compliance reporting are effectively executed

Facilitates training needs assessments, maintains up to date training programs, and effectively delivers training programs to diverse workforce

Partner with Human Resources and the JHSC to develop, implement, and promote employee wellness programs and initiatives

Stays updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to health, safety and wellness

Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders regarding health, safety, environmental inspections, inquiries, audits, reporting requirements, and corrective action plans

Drive the continuous improvement of safety and environmental goals to ensure alignment with the company's vision and critical success factors

Actively participate in the Safety Management System (SMS),



including reporting safety hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand and promote the company safety policy

Other duties as assigned

What you will need to be successful in this role:

Post-secondary degree or diploma in occupational health and safety or related field

Certified in First Aid, CPR & AED

3-5 years' experience in a similar role

Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret, applicable codes, standards, guidelines and government legislation such as the Canada Labour Code Part II

Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation considered an asset
