The College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan is the largest non-departmentalized college at USask and one of the most geographically distributed, with two campuses and eight sites across Saskatchewan.
We are seeking a Lab Technician to support nursing clinical skills labs at our Weyburn site. This role is well suited to a healthcare professional who values independent work, organization, and collaboration.
Based in Weyburn, the Lab Technician supports nursing students simulated learning through the daily operation of clinical skills labs. Reporting to the Provincial Lab Manager in Prince Albert, the role requires independence, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
Working primarily independently,
the Lab Technician collaborates with instructors and colleagues across the province to support consistent lab standards and operations. The position involves changing priorities, deadlines, and moderate physical activity, requiring adaptability, time management, and strong customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities
Support nursing clinical skills labs
Prepare, maintain, and clean lab spaces and equipment
Ensure equipment, manikins, and task trainers are operational
Perform routine equipment maintenance
Maintain supplies and inventory
Collaborate with the Provincial Lab Manager on lab needs
Maintain a qualified lab environment
Support safe and effective lab delivery
Perform other related duties as assigned
Education: Grade 12 required
Nursing education required; preference given to former RN, LPN, or CCA registrants
Experience: Minimum 2 years of healthcare-related experience
Skills and Attributes
Ability to work independently
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Collaborative and strong interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic scheduling tools
