Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Leader or designate, the MI-Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist works in a computerized workplace, performs special procedures such as Computerized Tomography (CT)
a majority of the time and carries out diagnostic procedures either independently or in collaboration with a radiologist or other physician; applies radiation safety principles and practices to protect patients, staff, and the general public; and completes required documentation and administrative tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Graduation from an approved Radiology Technologist Diploma program and certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Eligible for membership with CAMRT.
CAMRT Computed Tomography certification, Intravenous (IV) certification, and three (3) years recent, related experience in an acute hospital setting, including one (1) year performing Computed Tomography, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills And Abilities Ability to demonstrate knowledge of computed tomography procedures
Ability to demonstrate familiarity with medical imaging and patient information systems (HIS/RIS, PACS, Radnet)
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Physical ability to meet the requirements of the job
Ability to operate related equipment, such as a computer
