This is a permanent, part‑time position with a weekly schedule of 16.5 hours (Monday to Friday 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm) at the Dundana Centre (23 Dundana Ave, Dundas, ON L9H 4E5). Pay rates are 28.90 $ per hour for RECE and 26.35 $ per hour for Non‑RECE.
About the Role
As an After School Educator, your primary responsibility is to be present for children and their families while developing and implementing programs that meet their developmental needs and interests. You will create meaningful play experiences, provide healthy snacks, supervise outdoor and indoor activities, and ensure the safety and well‑being of children in your care.
Key Responsibilities
Greet children and families with warmth and professionalism
Support children as they transition from home to program, including self‑regulation and social engagement
Engage children in meaningful activities using a programming cart of materials
Provide morning snacks, ensuring children wash hands and eat safely
Help children tidy up and prepare for their school day, including outdoor play as appropriate
Set up and facilitate activities aligned with How Does Learning Happen?
Supervise snacks and ensure all children eat safely
Provide indoor and outdoor play opportunities and support children’s interests
Monitor children’s behavior, offering guidance and support as needed
Qualifications
Early Childhood Education Diploma (ECE) and member in good standing with the College of ECEs, or educational requirements to obtain Director’s Approval for working alone with children
Related experience in a childcare setting
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to effectively interact with children requiring behavioural guidance
Demonstrated knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?
Experience in program planning and implementation for JK/SK and school‑aged children
Excellent problem‑solving, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Flexibility to adapt to a variety of responsibilities and schedules
Passion for supporting children, families, and colleagues in a positive, team‑focused environment
Certifications
Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Proof of up‑to‑date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, MMR)
