The Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) recognizes the importance of building a public service that is inclusive and reflective of the population it serves. The objective of the Indigenous Career Gateway Program is to target external Indigenous candidates who are residents of the NWT for entry-level employment and trainee opportunities with the GNWT.
Applicants are asked to identify their priority under the Indigenous Employment Policy:
Stage One Priority (S1P)
Indigenous individuals who are recognized members and descendent of a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit people indigenous to the present boundaries of the Northwest Territories
Stage Two Priority (S2P)
Indigenous individuals who are recognized members and descendent of a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit people indigenous to areas of Canada outside of the present boundaries of the Northwest Territories
Documents Accepted as Proof of Priority include:
Or other official documents, such as a letter from the Indigenous Organization you belong to.
The Indigenous Career Gateway Program is designated for Indigenous people and only those applicants who self-declare at the time of application and provide proof of priority under the Indigenous Employment Policy, will be eligible for further consideration under this program.





Applicants will be entered into a database of candidates to be referred to departments as employment opportunities become available. As a condition of employment, candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Specific qualifications will vary, depending on position requirements.

Applicants with backgrounds in any of the following job categories are encouraged to apply:

human resources,
law,
corrections,
information technology,
health,
policy,
administration,
management,
transportation,
education,
science, and
other
If candidates would like to be considered for specific categories, they are encouraged to indicate the applicable categories on their covering letter or resume.

Conditions of employment vary from position to position, but may include one or more of the following:
NWT Driver's License
Criminal Records Check
