Who You Are

Must be enrolled in an Engineering co‑op (or internship) program at a recognized Canadian university

Have excellent computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly and concisely, using appropriate technical vocabulary

Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license

Asset Information and Tools – Electrical, Computer, Software Engineering – Edmonton

Prepare and review process documentation, work instructions, and issue briefs

Use SQL and Python to query, process, report, and work with asset management data

Support User Acceptance Testing for new and existing applications

Support manual and automatic data entry into enterprise applications

Software used: SQL, Python

Asset Strategy & Analytics – Electrical – Edmonton

Review reported system deficiencies and assist in work approval

Use SQL to query, process, report, and work with asset management data

Apply analytic skills to identify and initiate asset repair or replacement programs

Apply leadership/project management skills to engage stakeholders and lead on solution development process

Assist in planning yearly transmission and distribution system capital maintenance program

Software used: Microsoft Office Suite, NetWorks GIS Explorer, Maximo Database, SQL

Asset Modernization – Electrical – Edmonton

Develop and review SCADA points lists for varying projects

Use automated tools to support Distribution SCADA projects and programs

Work with System Operators to validate SCADA points in preparation for field installation

Apply analytic skills to develop automated tools for new products





Support the tracking of project costs for KPI reporting, SIM card costs, etc.

Assist in revising existing processes and procedures

Software used: Microsoft Office Suite, NetWorks GIS Explorer, Maximo Database, Vendor Specific Software (ABB, G&W;, etc.)

Asset Management, Asset Programs – Electrical – Edmonton

Analyzing data quality

Creating and executing plans for improving data quality

Analytics

Analyzing work and asset data to determine strategy

Creating and updating reports to summarize data into useful information

Working with subject matter experts from across the business to facilitate decisions relating to work and assets

Gathering input from all levels of the business to help characterize cost, risk, benefit, etc.

Software used: Microsoft Office Suite, Maximo, SQL Developer, Networks

Distribution Design Engineering – Electrical, Civil Engineering – Grande Prairie, Lloydminster

Prepare designs using AutoCAD for projects compatible with pre‑engineered regulations and meeting customer requirements

Calculate structure loading & determine pole class and guy length requirements based on tangential and sheer loading & balancing of static forces

Clearance calculations of overhead facilities

Size electrical equipment, wire, cable, and appropriate over‑current protective devices

Develop project cost and resource estimates

Prepare detailed material lists & order material

95% office based, 5% field based

Software used: Microsoft Office 365, AutoCAD

Telecom Engineering – Electrical, Computer, Communication Engineering – Edmonton

Support design for projects to modernize and expand the utility‑owned Telecom system through various project types and provide operational support as needed

Provide drafting, construction packages, and mapping support

Mark up preliminary and as‑built drawing packages as required, and coordinate drawing packages with other Engineering staff

Participate in pre‑commissioning of new assets including testing and configuration of devices and collection of asset data for entry into Maximo

Use telecom network design software tool for planning telecom networks

Conduct data analysis in support of network planning activities

Software used: Microsoft Office 365, Google Earth Pro, MicroStation

CCM Expediter – Electrical – Edmonton

Ensure project deliverables (Final engineer reviewed Microsoft Word document or Final engineer reviewed AutoCAD design) are completed

Collaborate with Engineering, Lands, Scheduling, and Warehouse departments to adapt current documents or designs due to changing priorities





Regularly communicate with customers to understand their service requirements, discuss timelines, and obtain project‑related information

Support the team through various duties including data entry and analysis, documentation, and application of company initiatives

100% office‑based with field opportunities (site visits or observations)

Software used: AutoCAD, Microsoft Office 365, Networks, Abadata, ArcGIS, ATCO Project Server, Oracle, Maximo

Operational Technology Support Team – Computer Engineering – Vegreville

System monitoring: Assist in monitoring OT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and industrial control systems

Technical support: Provide first‑level support for OT applications, hardware, and connectivity issues

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve incidents related to OT systems, escalating when necessary

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of incidents, resolutions, and system configurations

Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, IT staff, and operations teams to ensure system reliability

Cybersecurity awareness: Support initiatives to strengthen OT security, including OS hardening, patching and vulnerability management

Continuous improvement: Contribute ideas to enhance processes, tools, and system performance

Access management: Assist with maintaining and auditing user access to OT systems in line with CIP‑004 requirements

Change management: Document and track system changes to ensure compliance with CIP‑010 standards

Patch management: Support vulnerability assessments and patch tracking for CIP‑007 compliance

Configuration management: Help maintain baseline configurations and monitor deviations per CIP‑010

Audit preparation: Assist in gathering evidence, logs, and reports for internal and external CIP audits

Software used: OSI Scada, Windows and Linux Server, ADA and Windows Workstation

System Operations Support – Electrical Engineering – Vegreville

Distribution Outage Review & Correction

Review and update System Operations policy, procedures, and processes

Support technical trainer with System Operations training related tasks

Update System Operations Sharepoint

Update Distribution Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)

Software used: OMS – Outage Management Software, OET – Outage Edit Tool, Hexagon G‑Designer, Hexagon INET Viewer, Microsoft Office Products, Adobe & Foxit PDF Software

100% office‑based
