Provide essential support as a full time Indigenous Birth Support Worker in Fort Qu'Appelle, enhancing the birth experiences of women and families. Engage with indigenous communities to honor and uphold cultural traditions.
In this role, you will collaborate with the Community Health Maternal Child Health Program and the Women’s Health Team to deliver comprehensive, wholistic care. Your responsibilities include offering emotional and physical support through pregnancy and labor while ensuring the integration of First Nations cultural practices. Building awareness of indigenous birthing methods within communities is a significant aspect of this position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Offer continuous support throughout pregnancy and postpartum
• Advocate for mothers to enhance their birthing experience
• Respect and facilitate cultural traditions and ceremonies
• Promote awareness of indigenous birth practices within communities
• Collaborate with other health professionals to provide comprehensive care
Requirements:
• Grade 12 or equivalent is required
• Completion of Birth Doula Studies Program
• Experience in maternal child health is an asset
• Valid class 5 driver’s license required
• CPIC & Vulnerable Sectors check clearance
