Job Overview
The Purchasing Agent proactively manages the retail and single‑family inventory requirements, handles product transitions, and communicates effectively with the retail and single‑family teams. The role focuses on providing excellent customer service, taking full ownership of Retail Warehouses to improve just‑in‑time inventory, and working directly with suppliers to resolve inventory challenges and ensure products arrive as requested. Best procurement practices are used to order products at the lowest possible cost.
As a Purchasing Agent you will
Analyse the inventory requirement forecasts sent in by retail and single‑family and place purchase orders as required.
Manage purchase orders from entry to complete receipt of the product.
Communicate any inventory challenges to both the retail and single‑family teams as well as the Purchasing Managers.
Manage product transitions with a focus on fulfilling projects as requested; alternatively work closely with the single‑family team to transition projects as needed.
Manage Retail Warehouse inventory levels focused on driving turns.
Communicate regularly with Warehouse Management to keep inventory levels manageable and advise of any large incoming shipments.
Coordinate supplier meetings that occur weekly to quarterly depending on the supplier.
Reconcile supplier receiving and invoice variances in a timely fashion.
Experience we like to see
Experience with Microsoft Programs (specifically Excel and Outlook).
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to analyse and interpret high volumes of data.
Initiative to make improvements and communicate change.
Works well with others and can drive towards individual and shared team goals.
Assertive and direct when necessary.
Desired skills
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct errors in own work and that of others.
Experience with an ERP system.
Experience forecasting inventory with an understanding of manufacturing lead times.
Experience building successful relationships.
