DZ Driver/Picker
Location: 145 Walgreen Road, Ottawa, Ontario

Position Type: Permanent Full‑Time

Reporting To: Route Supervisor

Start Date: Immediately

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30am start

Compensation: $33.01 per hour

Summary
The DZ Driver/Picker at Miller Waste Systems is responsible for the protected, timely collection of residential waste streams, including yard waste, recycling, and garbage. This role ensures proper waste disposal in compliance with safety, environmental, and municipal regulations while delivering courteous and reliable service to the community.

Responsibilities

Responsible for various residential waste stream collections including yard waste, blue box/green bin and garbage.

Provide reliable high‑quality customer service and proper disposal of waste streams vital to the community’s health and well‑being.

Adhere to the collection and delivery schedule; deliver waste to local transfer stations, compost facilities or landfill sites efficiently.

Follow all relevant policies and procedures of the Company, MTO, Ministry of Environment, and municipal by‑laws. Failure to comply may lead to damage, injury or loss of life.

Work with employees, management, residents and members of the public in a polite and respectful manner at all times.

All waste receptacles emptied into the vehicle must be returned to the resident’s property, flipped upside down at the curb in the same place removed.





Lift and load garbage bags or cans weighing up to 50 lbs. from the ground into the hopper of a 2‑person truck or side loader of a 1‑person truck.

Make in excess of 800 residential stops per day.

Competencies & Qualifications

Valid DZ Driver’s Licence.

Clean driver’s abstract with no preventable accidents in the past year.

Minimum of 1 year’s experience on each type of equipment considered an asset.

Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Flexibility with work schedule; Saturdays, weekends and statutory holidays may be required at times.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.
