Job Description – Senior Accountant (CPA not required) JOB TITLE : Senior Accountant LOCATION : #1130 – 577 Nicola Avenue, Port Coquitlam, BC On-site Only (no hybrid or remote work arrangements available) EMPLOYMENT STATUS : Full Time HOURS OF WORK : Monday – Friday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) (40 hours/week) COMPENSATION : $55,000 – $70,000/year (commensurate with experience) ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION Bath Investments and Surrey Cedar are privately held, family-owned businesses based in Port Coquitlam, operating under a shared ownership structure with over 40 years of combined experience across real estate investment, property management, and lumber. This role supports accounting across both entities, providing exposure to a unique combination of real estate investment and operational business environments. JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant plays a key role in managing full-cycle accounting and financial reporting across a group of related entities, including both real estate and operational business units. This is a high-impact, hands‑on position within a multi‑entity environment,
requiring robust technical accounting expertise and the ability to manage competing priorities. Working closely with leadership and ownership, the role is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and review of financial information to ensure accuracy, compliance with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), and timely reporting. The position also supports areas such as lease accounting, intercompany transactions, and overall financial oversight across the organization. This is a fully in-office role designed to support close collaboration with cross-functional teams. It is well suited for an experienced accountant seeking to broaden their experience in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with exposure to both real estate investment and operational business accounting. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Reporting Manage full‑cycle accounting for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records Manage monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes, including preparation and review of accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and amortization Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations,
ensuring all accounts are supported and discrepancies are resolved Review general ledgers (approx. 20) activity across all entities to ensure accuracy and completeness Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules Analyze financial performance, investigate variances, and provide actionable insights to management Maintain audit‑ready working papers and documentation Real Estate Accounting Oversee property-level accounting, including maintenance of general ledgers and financial reporting Record and review rental revenue, common area maintenance (CAM), recoveries, and tenant billings Manage tenant deposits, prepaid rent, and accounts receivable reconciliations Prepare CAM reconciliations and tenant true‑ups in accordance with lease agreements Interpret lease terms and apply appropriate accounting practices, including deferred rent and tenant incentives Ensure appropriate revenue recognition in accordance with lease terms and applicable accounting standards Ensure compliance with applicable lease accounting standards Accrue and reconcile property-related expenses, including taxes and insurance Operational Accounting (Inventory & Costing) Oversee accounting for operational business units, including revenue, inventory, and cost of goods sold (COGS) Reconcile daily sales activity to the general ledger Monitor and analyze gross margins by product line and location, identifying operational trends, cost variances, and margin risks Review inventory adjustments, shrinkage, and obsolescence provisions Cash Management & Treasury Prepare and review
