Seeking candidates who enjoy working in a student-focused and collaborative environment. We invite applications for a Full‑Time School Administrative Assistant (24.1 hrs/week) / Library Assistant (12.9 hrs/week) .
Reporting to the Principal, the School Administrative Assistant ensures the efficient operation of the school office and performs a variety of secretarial/clerical duties for school staff in an environment of high volumes of work with constant interruptions and changing priorities.
The Library Assistant will be actively involved in creating an environment that is dynamic and collaborative for inquiry, with unlimited accessibility, where all learners are welcomed, engaged, and supported in their personalized learning pursuits both in the library and within classrooms.
Experience
Experience in performing responsible clerical and secretarial work is preferred
Experience working in an educational setting is preferred
Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary for the position may be considered
Experience and/or training with library procedures, cataloguing, and filing systems
Experience in an automated environment and in the library field is preferred

Duties and Responsibilities
Reception/Office
Answer the telephone in a professional, friendly, and effective manner
Greet and present a business‑like and welcoming atmosphere to staff, students, and visitors
Provide correct information in response to queries, within FOIP regulations
Distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence including mail, fax, and e‑mail
Maintain office supplies and inventory control
Facilitate and maintain school repair needs
Perform general office duties
Financial
Handle all aspects of in‑school collection and distribution of money
Collect and refund school fees, inputting into Powerschool
Respond to parent questions about school fees
Record keeping and cheque writing for all SGF and Site budgets
Make deposits and maintain records of budget allocations
Purchase, PO's, purchasing cards and cash receipting
Respond to inquiries regarding the school budget (teacher, school administration, central office, audit, etc.)
Human resource and payroll functions such as recording and reviewing absence and replacement employee and timesheet entries for support staff
Recordkeeping
Register students, obtain and maintain cumulative records
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date student data including attendance records, report cards
Maintain informative school documents and forms
Complete necessary forms (e.g., student accident reports)
Track volunteers and hours
Communication
Orientate substitute and casual staff to the school and classrooms
Provide required data to Central Office and Alberta Education in a timely manner
Provide support for written communication, letters, bulletins, and newsletters
Update school webpage and social media as necessary
Supervision
Maintain a safe environment for students who are waiting in the office area or sick room
Library
Work with students through varying formats and roles
Act as a resource to teachers and students in obtaining information and materials
Circulate, maintain, and update the resources necessary for a school library
Provide research and resource support to students and staff at the school
Other
Provide support for various school needs as identified and assigned by School Administration
Familiarize and adhere to District Administrative Procedures that relate to the position

Salary and Benefits
School Administrative Assistant wage is commensurate with education and experience. Salary range: $22.51/hour to $28.51/hour.
Library Assistant wage is commensurate with education and experience. Salary range: $20.66/hour to $27.20/hour.
