District Manager – Asset Protection (Edmonton Market)We are hiring a District Manager – Asset Protection for the Edmonton market. The incumbent will partner with the Senior Manager – Asset Protection to support retail stores and pharmacy locations, conduct Asset Protection assessments, monitor compliance, and coach store management teams to reduce loss and increase profitability.AccountabilitiesProvide Asset Protection support to 60 to 90 stores depending on geographic region.Conduct regular reviews and assessments to identify discrepancies, provide feedback, and train store management with corrective measures.Provide expert advice on operational policy and procedures at all levels of the organization to minimize losses while maintaining objective communication and escalation.Drive shrink reduction through diverse operational initiatives, analyzing financial reports and providing additional training to improve processes.Identify, investigate, track, and resolve Organized Retail Crime (ORC) incidents, leading investigative processes and fostering partnerships with law enforcement.Investigate and address all suspected internal integrity issues, liaising with external agencies as appropriate.Conduct internal integrity interviews to identify theft and procedural violations.Respond to critical incidents such as break‑in, robbery, and fire.Attend new, relocated, and expanded stores during construction, ensuring physical security standards are met.Assess acquisition store locations and recommend security measures.Review documentation and reports to highlight variances, investigate concerns, and develop action plans.Respond to inquiries from all business areas,
resolving concerns efficiently.Support business unit partners and central office initiatives to reduce shrink.Ensure field staff respect the Apprehension Protocol, reviewing reports for compliance and coaching opportunities.Maintain field staff training, fostering corporate values of continuous improvement and respect.Schedule field staff to meet business needs, proactively resolving staffing issues.Assess physical security needs and liaise with support teams as required.Skills and Experience5+ years of progressive Loss Prevention/Asset Protection experience.Postsecondary education in Law & Security or equivalent experience.Knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada.Valid driver’s licence and flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.Ability to handle sensitive issues with integrity and professional judgment.Ability to secure senior management support for new ideas and initiatives.Solid knowledge of company policy and procedures.Proficient computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with security surveillance equipment.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Demonstrated skills in investigation, interviewing, problem solving, shrink‑reduction techniques, and other asset‑protection skills.Recognised loss‑prevention industry designations or certificates in interviewing techniques (e.G., Wicklander‑Zulawski, Reid) are an asset.Accommodation is available upon request for applicants and colleagues with disabilities.Shoppers Drug Mart Inc. recognises Canada’s diversity as a source of national pride and strength, and we are committed to reflecting that diversity in our workplace.
