Hourly Wage
ISS offers full‑time employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, as well as a comprehensive leave program based on employment status. The hourly pay range for this position is C$25 per hour - C$32 per hour.
Working Hours
The Working Hours for this Position are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Key Purpose
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the operation, inspection, replacement, repair, and maintenance of building systems and general infrastructure to ensure optimal facility performance.
This role executes on both corrective and preventative maintenance, including completing scheduled inspections, addressing deficiencies, and ensuring all systems operate safely and efficiently.
The position requires responding to service requests and taking immediate action to resolve emergency situations or system breakdowns, while maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant work environment. This is a hands‑on role involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general building repairs.
Responsibilities also include overseeing contractors to ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with established standards, and communicating effectively with operation manager.
Success Criteria
Ability to troubleshoot and maintain HVAC, plumbing, and basic electrical systems
Ability to operate, monitor, and adjust Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Strong problem‑solving skills
Timely and high‑quality completion of work orders and repairs
Adherence to safety and compliance standards
Ensure assigned preventive maintenance tasks are completed on schedule
Deliver work safely, efficiently, and to a high‑quality standard
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (mechanical, plumbing and electrical diagrams, floor plans)
Strong customer service responsiveness and communication
Work independently and complete assigned task effectively
Maintain strong attendance and performance standards
Observe vendor work and report to operation manager where necessary
Key Areas of Collaboration and Influence
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English required (French for Qc Province)
Communicates effectively with clients, team members, managers, coworkers and stakeholders
Works collaboratively within a team setting while also operating independently
Maintains professional appearance and conduct
Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience & Qualifications
2–5 years of facility maintenance or trade‑related experience
Strong handyman and general maintenance skillset
Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Experience working with building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical)
Experience maintaining clean, safe, work environments
At least one of the certifications listed below, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining one, is preferred.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Knowledge of building systems including fire‑life safety and auxiliary systems
Ability to use hand tools, equipment, and perform physically demanding tasks safely
Familiarity with CMMS systems is an asset
Certifications (An Asset)
BES Level I
ODP (Ozone Depletion Prevention) Certification
Facilities Maintenance Certificate
Trade certification (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry)
Key Accountabilities
Operations & Maintenance
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
Complete all required documentation for PM's and RM's inside CMMS system of record
Perform routine inspections, rounds, and readings on building systemsRepair system issues, including plumbing fixtures, lighting, doors, drywall, and minor HVAC components
Replace components such as filters, bulbs and hardware
Perform other duties as assigned by management to support operational and business needs
Repairs & General Building Maintenance
Perform minor carpentry, painting, patching, and ceiling tile replacement
Repair or replace door hardware, locks, and related fixtures
Perform pipe work including brazing/soldering copper and threading black pipe
Safely isolate and prepare systems for maintenance (lockout/tagout where applicable)
Monitoring & Documentation
Maintain logs, inspection records, and maintenance documentation (CMMS, logbooks)
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety standards
Maintain operation and maintenance manuals for equipment
Customer Service & Communication
Respond promptly to service requests and emergency situations
Communicate status updates to customers and stakeholders in a timely manner
Support customer satisfaction through quality service delivery
Contractor & Vendor Coordination
Oversee work performed by external contractors
Ensure contractor work meets safety and quality standards
Safety & Compliance
Follow HS&E; policies, procedures, and safe work practices
Maintain clean, organized workspaces and maintenance areas
Handle hazardous materials safely and comply with storage/disposal requirements
Safely use hand tools, power tools and test instruments to maintain, troubleshoot and repair various types of equipment
Report unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions
Complete all mandatory safety trainings on time and participate in near miss reporting
Use appropriate PPE and safety equipment
Maintain awareness of emergency systems and procedures
Administrative Duties
Maintain inventory of tools and materials; requisition supplies as needed
Complete required administrative tasks (logs, reports, basic payroll/training inputs if applicable)

Must be able physically perform all operations and maintenance on site
Must be physically able to wear required PPE while executing work
Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 70 lbs.), climb ladders, work on feet for long periods, work in the cold, heat, noisy, and confined space environments
