On Call Relief Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier
As an on‑call relief rural and suburban mail carrier with Canada Post, you will deliver mail on an on‑call basis to various communities, working independently across all weather and traffic conditions.
Responsibilities
Sort, collect and deliver mail items safely and on time.
Acquire and maintain knowledge of local infrastructure, roads, customers and delivery receptacles.
Secure mail in your possession and ensure receipts and documents are properly handled.
Process various CPC products and services such as Change of Address Notification, Damaged Mail and Items Delivered Bill (IDB).
Wear Canada Post identification while delivering and ensure its visibility.
Lift and carry up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) of items.
Make deliveries and operate a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions.
Qualifications
Valid permanent provincial driver’s license – class 5 or G.
Protected driving record.
Familiarity with operating a motor vehicle on rural and suburban routes.
Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb (22.7 kg).
Vehicle Requirements
Automatic transmission.
Power windows.
Metal roof‑top and accessory power outlet to accommodate Canada Post sign and flashing light.
Middle passenger window sill 38‑45 inches from the ground and maximum interior width 56 inches.
Five‑door hatchback to allow for oversized and bulky items (preferred).
Minimum cargo capacity of 50 cu ft (1415 liters).
Maintain automobile liability insurance for the vehicle when used for Canada Post duties.
Notify insurance company of vehicle use while employed at Canada Post.
