Description
The Assistant Cross Country & Track Coach serves as a key member of the Department of Athletics and assists the Head Coach in all aspects of operating successful NCAA Division II programs in men’s cross country, women’s cross country, and women’s outdoor track. Responsibilities include recruiting, player development, academic monitoring, game preparation, practice planning, scouting, compliance, and administrative duties while supporting the mission and values of the institution and the athletic department.

Essential Job Functions

Assist the Head Coach with daily operations of the programs.

Conduct individual and group skill development workouts.

Assistwith practice planning, film breakdown, andeventpreparation.

Support recruiting effortsin accordance withNCAA Division II rules and regulations.

Monitor and encourage academic success, personal growth, and student-athlete accountability.

Assistwith team travel coordination, equipment management, and operational needs.

Drive university-issued vehicles for team travel, recruiting activities, camps, and other program-related responsibilities while adhering to all university transportation policies.

Assistwith organizing camps, clinics, community outreach events, and fundraising initiatives.

Maintain knowledge of andcomply withNCAA, conference, and institutional policies and procedures.

Serve as a positive representative of the university and department.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degreefrom an accredited college or university.

Previousparticipationexperience at the collegiate, high school, oranothercompetitive level.





Valid driver’s license with the ability to be approved tooperateuniversity-issued vehicles.

Solid communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel asrequired.

Commitment to student-athlete development, academic achievement, and program culture.

Preferred Qualifications

Collegiate coaching, operations, or participationexperience.

Experience withathletedevelopment and skill instruction.

Recruiting experience and knowledge of NCAA Division II regulations.

Strength and conditioning experience or background in athletic performance training.

Strong oral and written presentation skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must have valid driver’s license with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check. Must be able to read, write and speak fluently in English.

Physical Demands
The work environment is an athletic and office setting which requires the ability to travel much of the time, work long hours including evenings and weekends, be physically active, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and have the ability to demonstrate specific skills. Ability to travel frequently and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
