Position Summary
Prepares and cooks buffet and a la carte for the restaurant and for special occasions, conferences and other functions in a manner consistent with a superior dining facility.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
Providing personalized and exceptional guest service at every given opportunity
Prepares and cooks items for breakfast buffet and the lunch a la carte menu
Sets up line for the lunch buffet when required and cooks all menu items on a daily basis
Work in and maintain a clean environment
Follow Lais Hotel Properties’ standards for food preparation
Assists in the preparation of stocks and soups as required under the direction of the Executive Sous Chef
All other duties as assigned
Secondary Responsibilities
Having a thorough knowledge of Lais Hotel Properties’ products and services
Suggesting additional products and services meeting our guests’ specific preferences
Technical/Managerial/Administrative Requirements
Basic knowledge of WHMIS is considered an asset
Standard first aid is considered an asset
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Understand and practice of safe food handling
Professional Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent experience
Theoretical training at a community college in a cook apprenticeship program for one year and 6000 hours of in-house on-the-job training under certified Chef or equivalent experience of 3-5 years
Excellent eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills for cutting, chopping and arrangement of meals on plate
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Current Safe Food Handler’s Certificate
Previous up-selling and/or sales experience is considered an asset
Basic literacy skills

Physical Requirements
Bending and lifting in excess of 50 lbs
Able to stand for long periods of time
Able to work in a hot environment
Work in a safe and responsible manner
Constant interruptions and noisy atmosphere make concentration difficult at times
