Position Title
Patient Access Representative
Louisburg Medical Pavilion
Position Summary
Responsible for completion of front office tasks ensuring smooth and efficient patient flow and quality customer service. Tasks include greeting patients, verifying and updating patient information, scheduling and cancelling patient appointments, completing appointment reminder calls, answering phones, routing calls, collecting account copays and outstanding account balances, balancing collected payments, reconciling appointments, and filing/scanning/copying documents and forms.
Responsibilities
Greets customers in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
Verifies patient information and ensures the patient completes and signs appropriate paperwork, obtains copies of insurance cards, driver's license, and enters/updates patient demographic and insurance information in the computer system accurately and timely.
Maintains appointment scheduling system, scheduling, coordinating, and adjusting patient appointments to fit the patient's request, provider schedule, and system capability, following the "No-Show" procedure and completing appointment reminder calls.
Answers telephone promptly, screens calls, takes complete messages including triage information, or routes/transfers call to appropriate staff, and distributes information to nursing and medical support staff accurately and courteous.
Consistently collects patient co‑pay and outstanding account balances.
Prepares office batches and balances patient payments received at the completion of each workday.
Serves as liaison between patient and medical support staff, communicates with insurance company for necessary referral information, and assists patient scheduling specialist appointments or testing.
Checks out patients providing visit‑specific information and schedules future appointments.
Maintains a clean, orderly front desk and waiting area.
Collaborates with PAR/Clinical access to enter patient clinical information in the EMR accurately and timely.
Participates fully as a member of the Patient Centered Medical Home Team.
Performs the professional, clinical and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
Other duties may be assigned as required.
Required Education and Experience
High school graduate.
Previous related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Previous healthcare experience.
