Note: This is an Hrly Paid Electrician Role.

Responsibilities
PLC & Machine Automation Support

Support the maintenance team in troubleshooting PLC programs and diagnosing faults across automated machines and production lines

Assist with PLC program modifications, backups, and version control as directed by the Maintenance Manager

Implement minor machine control modifications — parameter adjustments, sequence changes, and fault handling updates —within approved change management procedures

Serve as a technical escalation resource for PLC-related fault diagnosis; coordinate with machine OEMs for technical support when required

Support FAT and SAT activities for new or modified machines in collaboration with the maintenance and controls engineering team

Maintain current‑state accuracy of all machine‑level systems — decommission PLC programs, HMI screens, and associated configurations for equipment that has been removed or retired from the floor

Coordinate with the Industrial Automation Specialist on issues that span the machine layer and the SCADA layer

OT Spare Parts & Controls Program Library

Manage and maintain the OT spare parts inventory for control system components — PLCs, HMIs, drives, I/O modules, and associated hardware

Track spare parts consumption, reorder levels, and lead times; coordinate procurement with the maintenance team

Own and maintain the controls program library — versioned backups of all PLC and HMI programs across all machines and production lines

Develop, own, and maintain a centralized recipe library — master repository of all machine recipes across all production lines, where recipes are version‑controlled, backed up, and accessible

Ensure all program backups are current following any modification; maintain a structured and accessible archive

Define and maintain naming conventions and folder structures for the controls program library

Develop and maintain PLC and HMI programming standards — code structure, naming conventions, fault handling patterns, and HMI screen templates

Champion consistent application of standards across all machines and lines; identify deviations and work with the maintenance team to remediate over time

Provide guidance to OEMs and system integrators on facility programming standards during recent equipment procurement and commissioning

Collaborate with the Industrial Automation Specialist to ensure machine‑level standards are compatible with SCADA integration requirements and PLC programs expose the necessary data points

Manage and maintain label templates and print formats used across production lines

Troubleshoot printer hardware, communication, and configuration issues impacting production; coordinate resolution with the Industrial Automation Specialist for integration‑related root causes

Serve as the primary contact for printing system vendors for hardware support, supplies, and system upgrades

Ensure print hardware is maintained and operational across all lines; coordinate with maintenance for physical installation and replacement

Machine Troubleshooting Documentation

Develop and maintain machine‑level troubleshooting guides for common PLC faults, alarms, and failure modes across all automated equipment

Collaborate with the maintenance team to capture institutional knowledge and translate it into structured, accessible documentation

Keep troubleshooting guides current following program changes, hardware replacements, or recurring failure pattern analysis

Contribute to and maintain the controls program change log, recording all modifications with context, rationale, and testing outcomes

Controls Specialist — Role Requirements — V1.0

Work closely with the Industrial Automation Specialist on issues and projects that span the machine layer and upper automation layers — PLC faults surfacing in SCADA, integration issues requiring machine‑side investigation, or joint project implementation

Support the Production Business Analyst with technical input on machine‑level capabilities and constraints when scoping automation improvement initiatives

Participate in production readiness reviews for line changeovers, new product introductions, and planned maintenance windows

Escalate cross‑system issues to the appropriate resource — SCADA or integration issues to the Industrial Automation Specialist; machine or maintenance issues to the Maintenance Manager
