About the Role
Keolis is seeking a reliable, community‑focused Transit Driver to join our Mount Waddington Transit team in Port Hardy, BC. This part‑time, permanent position offers regular scheduled hours and long‑term employment stability. The role is well suited for individuals who enjoy working independently, providing excellent customer service, and making a meaningful impact in their local community. Keolis may sponsor a qualified Class 5 driver to obtain a Class 4 unrestricted licence.

Compensation, Schedule & Training

Schedule: Part‑time driver requiring split shifts (e.g., 6‑10 am and 3‑7 pm). Shifts may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, Saturdays, and statutory holidays.

Wage Structure:

Introductory rate (first 6 months): $23.81 per hour.

After 7 months: $26.46 per hour.

Training: Successful candidates will complete a paid training program at a rate of $23.40 per hour (typically 1–2 weeks).

Union Affiliation: International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) – Local 882.

Knowledge and Experience

Valid Class 4 unrestricted driver’s licence or Class 5 licence with willingness to obtain a Class 4 licence through company‑supported training.

Clear driver abstract.

Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.

Strong knowledge of the Mt. Waddington roadways.

Physical ability to push/pull wheelchairs up and down a ramp or onto a lift.

High level of professionalism: commitment, patience, maturity, initiative, organization, punctuality, and reliability.





Excellent driving skills with safe operation in all‑weather conditions.

Strong communication, customer service, and conflict‑resolution skills, maintaining a calm, upbeat, and helpful manner.

Sound decision‑making and problem‑solving, especially under stress.

Ability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Key Accountabilities

Passenger Transportation:

Transport passengers safely according to established policy.

Provide information and assist passengers in a courteous manner.

Manage passenger behaviour by quickly and effectively solving problems.

Vehicle Operations and Maintenance:

Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle checks.

Report vehicle maintenance issues.

Communication and Reporting:

Maintain radio contact with base and use proper communication protocol.

Report passenger emergencies and schedule concerns.

Complete required paperwork.

Assist with driver coverage by providing transit services when needed.
