Job OverviewThe purpose of this position is to lead the underwriting and production efforts of a regional team of commercial underwriters in an assigned geography or regional sales territory. The Underwriting Team Leader is responsible for day-to-day production, underwriting quality, account management, and referral authority. This position is responsible for the direction and management of up to eight direct reports, including small to middle market production underwriters working in an office and/or remote environment.The Underwriting Team Leader provides technical direction to Commercial Lines team in the interpretation of Commercial Lines underwriting policies and procedures. tools and eventsHealth Savings Account – matchFinancial Wellness ResourcesThe Regional Underwriting Team Leader role is a hybrid position, and candidates may be considered from any of the three locations: Monterey, CA, Roseville, CA, Reno, NV.RequirementsKnowledge of:Underwriting principles, procedures, rules and regulationsRelevant knowledge of pertinent DOI Regulations and pending legislative issuesRating plans (ISO or similar) and commercial lines coveragesKnowledge of social, economic, and competitive aspects of territory assignedNational and local business conditions and trendsUnderwriting and marketing philosophy and procedureEducation and Experience:College degree (or equivalent experience) and seven to ten years of experience writing small to medium sized small business and middle market risks as a commercial line's underwriter. The position also requires a minimum of two to three years in a leadership or supervisory role directing the efforts of a skilled team to manage agency relationships and business production.Completion of technical insurance coursework preferred, such as CPCU, AU, ARM, CRM or CIC.Salary Range:$85,284 - $140,718The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role.
