Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Taper to join our construction team. As a Taper, you will be responsible for applying joint compound, or "mud," to drywall seams, screw holes, and other surface imperfections to create a smooth, flawless finish ready for painting or finishing. This role is vital in ensuring high-quality wall surfaces that meet industry standards and project specifications.

The ideal candidate will bring construction experience, proficiency in drywall finishing techniques, and a keen eye for detail to deliver exceptional results efficiently.

Duties
Apply joint compound accurately along drywall seams, corners, and fasteners using taping knives and other tools
Sand and smooth finished surfaces to achieve a seamless appearance suitable for painting or finishing
Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to understand project requirements and specifications
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and priming as needed before applying finishing materials
Use caulking techniques to seal gaps around trims, fixtures, or joints for a polished look
Collaborate with carpenters, painters, and other trades to ensure cohesive project progress




Maintain cleanliness of work area and properly store tools and materials after each shift

Experience
Proven experience in construction painting, drywall finishing, or related carpentry roles
Robust knowledge of construction processes and safety protocols on job sites
Skilled in blueprint reading to understand project layouts and specifications
Handyman experience with general repair skills is highly desirable
Familiarity with caulking techniques and tools used in surface sealing
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality standards
Prior experience with construction projects involving drywall installation and finishing is preferred
