Salary: $53,000-$58,000 per year

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with some evenings and weekends

Employment Type and Location: Full time, Permanent, Lower Mainland (hybrid-remote)

Position Description
Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Program Coordinator oversees the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of CAN programs in the Lower Mainland. They are responsible for identifying and fostering relationships with various community partners, advising on the strategic priorities and community needs in the area, representing CAN in the community when needed, and supporting the hiring, training, and supervision of program staff, among other various tasks.

The ideal candidate is passionate,and values driven, with a focus on best practices in both autism support anddelivery of sport/recreation programs for children. The Program Coordinatormust be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of programs on a regular basis. Some program visits on evenings and weekends are required. They also must thrive working independently and with minimal oversight, while also maintaining a team-oriented approach to their work.

Key Functions
Program Coordination and Oversight

Oversee theday-to-day operations and activities of assigned sport and recreation programs,including program development, implementation, and evaluation.

Manage and monitoran assigned annual budget.

Planseasonal program schedules based on CAN’s budget and strategic priorities.

Book andbe the primary contact for facilities that host CAN programs.

Visitprograms to support staff, interact with members and ensure quality control (useof support strategies, safety, caregiver communication, etc.)

Workclosely with other departments and meet deadlines to provide program details forpromotional material, program guides, annual reports, and social media posts.

Assistwith the planning, staffing and execution of events related to assigned programsand facilities.

Collaborate withother Coordinators and departments to evaluate programs seasonally to identifydelivery gaps, program challenges and curriculum needs.

Maintain programrecords and develop policies and procedures to support positive and safeprogram delivery.





Staff and Volunteer Management and Training

Supervise and provideleadership and support to CAN program staff and volunteers to ensure they arefollowing CAN policies and procedures and delivering CAN programs to thehighest standard

Determine the number ofstaff and volunteers needed for programs

Support HR to fillvacancies by conducting interviews and identifying high-performing staffwith necessary experience, skills, and education

Support the Trainingdepartment to ensure that mandatory training requirements are successfullycompleted by all staff seasonally

Deliver regular trainingsto new and returning staff in support of the Training department

Act as primary contact andsupport for Onsite Supervisors; assist in navigating CAN processes, sensitivemember conversations and opportunities for mentorship and professionalgrowth

Collaborate with HRdepartment to manage staff performance issues and address concernsregarding policies, procedures and expectations of program staff andvolunteers

Support HR and Trainingdepartments to identify skill and knowledge gaps in staff and volunteersand make recommendations for training

Lead seasonal program staffplacement process and determine staffing needs based on CAN programguidelines

Support Onsite Supervisorsto provide support and performance feedback on a regular basis to programstaff and volunteers

Community Partnerships and Training

Build and maintaincommunity partnerships to support CAN programs

Deliver training to community partners affiliated with assigned programs

Be an ambassador for the organization by attending CAN programs and representing CAN at community events, as needed

Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with program partners, including facilities, like-minded organizations, government, donors, families, and program facilitators

Administration & Other Duties





Participate and represent CAN at events (e.g., major events, fundraising), asneeded

Contribute as a member of the CAN Programs teamto additional projects and activities, as required

Attend regular in-person and teleconferencemeetings including weekly check-in meetings with Director and other department leads, and bi-weeklyall-staff meetings, as well as some annual in-person events in Vancouver

Qualifications & Experience

Degree,diploma or certificate in a relevant discipline preferred (such aseducation, exercise science, recreation therapy, psychology, specialeducation, kinesiology, and other similar fields)

Previous experience in sport and recreation programcoordination preferred

Experience with supporting Autisticindividuals and knowledge of behaviour support strategies stronglypreferred

Experience working in CAN programs an asset

Valid BC Driver’s license; personal vehicle anasset

Knowledge of and existingconnections with organizations and facilities in the region an asset

Strong leadership skills tomotivate and mentor program staff, and resolve interpersonal conflict andperformance issues
