Desktop Adjuster - Hybrid - Markham, ON

Compensation range: $47,100.00 - $65,400.00 annually

We have an existing opportunity to add an experienced full‑time Desktop Adjuster to our team. This is a hybrid position requiring weekly attendance at either the Markham or Mississauga office.

Responsibilities

Review documentation including policyholder statements, police reports, repair estimates, photographs, and third‑party inspections to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Determine coverage by interpreting insurance policy terms, conditions, and exclusions to decide claim validity and insurer’s financial responsibility.

Resolve claims by communicating with policyholders via phone, email, or video conference to explain coverage decisions, settle claims, and expedite payments.

Collaborate with field adjusters, contractors, and other stakeholders to finalize claims efficiently.

Document all communications, update claim files, and maintain accurate records in claims management software such as Xactimate.

Provide customer service by responding to inquiries, offering guidance, and ensuring timely contact with claimants throughout the claims process.

Qualifications & Experience

University degree or post‑secondary education related to insurance.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in Personal and/or Commercial lines Auto Property Damage (PD); personal Property Claims experience considered an asset.

Effective analytical, communication (verbal, written, and presentation), organizational, interpersonal,



relationship‑building, and leadership skills.

Sense of urgency and responsiveness.

Positive investigative manner and ability to interpret complex legal documents and conduct advanced numerical calculations.

Adjuster’s license, or current pursuit or completion of the CIP designation.

Advanced written and oral communication skills, including technical writing, interviewing, negotiating, and audience‑appropriate style.

Ability to prioritize, manage conflicting priorities, and proactively address customer service inquiries promptly.
