About the Facility
Elder Catherine Charles Long‑term Care Home is responsible for the provision of quality care to clients by providing personal care and respite assistance to clients based on their assessed needs. This is a 24‑hour, 365 days’ facility that provides level 1, 2 and 3 care to residents admitted into the facility. The main goals are to provide direct care and monitor residents’ health conditions.
About the Position
Working 12‑hour shifts with a rotating schedule, Personal Care Workers support and supervise individuals with physical abilities; use a team approach to plan, organize and supervise daily activities; prepare and serve meals as planned; administer prescribed medications.
Duties
Support and supervise elderly individuals;
Use a team approach to plan, organize and supervise daily activities, recreational and other services;
Prepare and serve meals as planned;
Assess needs of residents on an ongoing basis;
Maintain sanitation of Long‑term Care Home;
12‑hour shift with rotating schedule (overtime may be required);
Other duties as assigned by supervisor;
Qualifications
Continuing Care Aide Certificate, Personal Care Worker Certificate or Home Health Aide certificate required; minimum grade 12 or equivalent;
Certified First Aide & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certificate required or willing to obtain;
Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with the group home team, and demonstrate robust organizational skills;
Strong written and verbal communication;
Previous home care or childcare experience is an asset;
Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset;
Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
Ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
