The Role
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will play a key role in site preparation and project execution. You will operate excavators and skid steers to support a variety of construction projects, working closely with a skilled crew that values teamwork, efficiency, and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work
Daily Start-Up & Safety
Clock in at the yard when operating a company work truck
Complete pre-trip inspections for work trucks
Perform daily inspections on assigned equipment
Participate in FLHA / toolbox safety meetings and complete required safety documentation
Typical start time: 6:45 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Job Site Operations
Safely and efficiently operate compact excavators and skid steers (Bobcat-style equipment)
Slab-on-grade preparation, including accurate grading and backfilling around infrastructure
Excavation and earthmoving in tight or constrained job sites
Shotcrete removal for envelope tie-ins and repair work
Anchor removal and detention
Snow removal and salting during winter months
Work collaboratively with crew members and site supervisors
Documentation & Communication
Upload job‑site photos to JobTread with detailed descriptions
Communicate progress, issues, or delays to supervisors
Equipment Maintenance
Fuel and grease machines daily
Grease work truck weekly
Report maintenance or mechanical issues promptly
End-of-Day & Administrative Tasks
Complete daily slips signed by supervisor
Review upcoming work and confirm requirementsUpload Visa receipts into Dext
Equipment Focus
We primarily use compact Bobcat and smaller‑sized equipment for versatility, precision, and minimal site disruption across urban and large‑scale job sites.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum 3 years’ experience operating excavators and skid steers
Minimum 3 years’ construction experience
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (air brakes an asset)
Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Ability to work throughout the Lower Mainland
Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends
On‑site training may be considered for the right candidate
(Note: Forklift certification alone does not qualify.)
Work Schedule
Monday to Friday
8–10 hour shifts
Overtime and weekends as required
Compensation & Benefits
$30.00 – $42.00 per hour, based on experience
