Position Summary Reporting to the Coordinator, Cycling & Events, this part‑time position uses comprehensive knowledge of cycling specific technical skills to provide coaching to participants with detailed attention to specific cycling attributes, such as biomechanical, physiological and mental. While serving as a positive role model, the Track Cycling Coach is responsible for the planning and delivery of instructional track cycling programs that are safe, fun and appropriate for the targeted age group and mission of the session or program. Programs may include private try the track sessions, certifications and track rentals.
Responsibilities Implement track cycling programs with a focus on quality customer experiences: work with the Coordinator to plan and deliver cycling sessions to meet the needs of the participants
Present and coach technical cycling skills and knowledge both on and off the track
Coach and mentor cycling participants during private training sessions or programs
Provide regular updates and feedback to the Coordinator, Cycling and Events
Modify and adapt the technical, physical and mental session demands to meet individual participants’ abilities and needs
Provide a safe and well‑supervised session environment
Create and supervise a positive atmosphere for participants to actively participate and excel
Establish positive relationships, explicit communication channels and work cooperatively with all staff and participants
Provide excellent customer service
Maintain a safe,



clean facility; includes inspecting the riding surface before every session and communicating deficiencies to appropriate staff
Report any incidents, concerns or site damage to the supervisor
Maintain and submit attendance records and waivers
Submit all required forms ensuring accuracy and completeness of information to the Coordinator
Attend and participate in mandatory staff functions: training, meetings and allocated program times as determined by the Coordinator
Perform all other duties as assigned in accordance with department objectives
Education & Experience Completion of Secondary Education
Minimum of two (2) years coaching/teaching/program instruction experience in a related field
Understanding of the cycling‑specific Long Term Athletic Development pathway and Cycling Sport for Life
Strong interest and personal commitment to athletic and coaching development
Minimum 19 years of age
Mattamy National Cycling Centre (MNCC) Track Certification
National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) – Community Cycling Coach – “Trained”
Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening Program
Planning and program presentation skills
Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
Discretion,



tact and mature judgment required
Effective organizational, time management and problem‑solving skills
Preferred Qualifications Post‑secondary degree/diploma in Kinesiology, Sports Science or related field is an asset
Experience in coaching individual cyclists, teams and clubs is an asset
Knowledge and experience with multi‑discipline cycling is an asset
Basic understanding of nutrition, biomechanics, anatomy and physiology related to the sport of cycling is an asset
National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Intro to Competition Cycling Coach – “Trained”
Certifications/workshops in a related field is an asset
High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development
Experience working with youth in a recreational setting is an asset
Experience working with persons with disabilities is an asset
