This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SLead Senior Specialist, Payroll based in Canada.

This is a senior payroll opportunity within a fully remote, technology-driven professional services environment.

You will manage complex, multi-province payrolls for a diverse portfolio of Canadian clients across multiple industries.

The role combines hands-on payroll processing with client advisory, compliance, problem-solving, and process improvement.

You’ll work closely with clients and internal teams to deliver accurate, timely, and seamless payroll services.

As a technical resource, you’ll also contribute expertise, support complex escalations, and strengthen team-wide payroll practices.

The position offers significant exposure to different payroll scenarios, jurisdictions, platforms, and compliance requirements.

n Accountabilities:

Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple Canadian clients with varying pay frequencies, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

Process payroll changes, including employee additions and removals, deductions, benefits, and other payroll adjustments.

Manage year-end payroll activities, including T4 preparation and processing, as well as ROE submissions.

Respond to complex client payroll inquiries by analyzing information, identifying solutions, providing recommendations, and resolving issues efficiently.

Support payroll compliance across multiple provinces, including EHT and WCB filings and other applicable requirements.

Review CRA accounts, respond to government notices, and help clients navigate payroll-related compliance matters.

Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and proactive coordination with clients and internal bookkeeping teams.

Manage payroll data, conduct advanced analysis and reporting, and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and service delivery.

Champion process improvements and contribute to the development and implementation of departmental best practices.





Act as a technical payroll resource for colleagues, supporting knowledge sharing and helping resolve complex payroll questions and escalations.

Stay current with Canadian payroll legislation, regulations, provincial requirements, payroll technologies, and emerging best practices.

Requirements

PCP certification is required.

At least 12 years of payroll experience in a fast-paced environment, ideally supporting large organizations or multiple companies with multi-jurisdictional payroll exposure.

Advanced knowledge of Canadian payroll processes, including withholding taxes, source deductions, benefits, other deductions, ROEs, T4s, and related compliance requirements.

Strong experience processing payroll across multiple Canadian provinces; Quebec experience is considered an asset.

Demonstrated ability to handle complex payroll scenarios, escalations, advanced data analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll matters clearly and professionally to clients and colleagues.

Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.

Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to payroll accuracy, compliance, and quality.

Self-directed and proactive, with the ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote environment.

Strong technology skills and the ability to quickly learn new payroll software, digital tools, and automation solutions.

Experience with payroll platforms such as Payworks or Wagepoint is an asset.

Collaborative, resourceful, and comfortable acting as a trusted technical advisor for both clients and internal teams.
