Salary: $33.49 - $35.31 per hour (based on seniority and collective agreement)

Job Summary
The Outreach Worker reports to the Designated Manager and works in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Lookout Housing and Health Society, following Lookout’s Code of Ethics. Outreach workers provide a variety of support, direction, assistance, and advocacy services to clients, including those facing challenges with stable housing, addictions, mental health, HIV, etc. The Outreach Worker provides support and advocacy for treatment and follow‑up services for clients who do not adequately utilize needed services.

This position requires successful completion of respirator fit testing, due to Lookout’s Certificate of Recognition status and WorkSafeBC health and safety requirements. Employees must be clean‑shaven during respirator seal checks.

Days and Hours of Work
Seven days a week, including day, afternoon/evening, and overnight shifts. Shifts are 7.5 hours long. Schedule may change with two weeks’ notice. Days of rest shall be consecutive. Probationary period: 488 hours with mid‑ and end‑point reviews.

Job Duties

Provide assistance, support, and skills training to adults to establish and maintain stable living situations independently.

Work on securing and maintaining stable, independent living situations where possible.

Discuss, isolate, and assess problems, and develop a adaptable plan of action.

Ensure basic needs are met by networking clients with needed services,



providing crisis intervention as necessary, and administering finances and medications or arranging coverage.

Maintain required records and statistical data.

Aid in training and upgrading placement programs for staff, volunteers, and students.

Drive company vehicle when required.

Remain alert and attentive during working hours; sleeping during shifts is not permitted.

Comply with and contribute to all aspects of the health and safety program.

Qualifications & Competence

Related Diploma or Certificate; or minimum Grade 12 education plus two (2) years of recent related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Prefer a minimum of one (1) year case management experience.

Familiarity with community resources, particularly addiction, mental health, welfare, and harm reduction.

Current Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate and a Class 5 Driver’s Licence with Driver’s Abstract.

Crisis Intervention Skills Training is an asset.

Ability to work independently or in a team setting.

Strong ability to manage stress and organize workload.

Excellent communication, writing, documentation, and organizational skills.

Understanding and maintaining client/worker boundaries.

Ability to work with disadvantaged and challenging adults in a diverse environment.

Strong physical and mental ability to perform work tasks and operate job‑related equipment.

Minimum two (2) years of sobriety if concerns related to alcohol and/or drug use.

Criminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable Sector.
