Job Description
Under the supervision of the Capital Works Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining contracted assets (bridges, culverts, roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) per the standards and conditions specified in the contract. Competitive pay range: $25–$26 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
Winter Season
Removal of snow and ice by using snow removal and/or sanding equipment.
Summer Season
Clean, maintain, and repair bridges, culverts, shoulders, signs, guide rail and other highway inventory.
Operate vehicles and equipment as required for surface and right‑of‑way maintenance and repair of bridges, culverts, shoulders, etc.
Other Required Duties
Traffic control setup and removal in accordance with OTM Book 7.
Transport crew and equipment to work sites.
Be available for emergency response rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Other duties as assigned by the Contract Manager.
Skills and Abilities
Skill in the operation of company/rental tools and equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
Highly developed sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability.
Ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non‑routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident.
Ability to communicate with co‑workers/subcontractors, understand and follow verbal and written safety instructions and maintain safety focus while operating tools, equipment or vehicles.
Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the job.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma / GED required.
Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience in bridge/road construction and maintenance (outdoor work).
Minimum DZ driver’s license required with a good driving record.
