Employment Type: Temporary Part‑Time (less than 35 hours per week)

About the Position
The Maintenance Technician performs building maintenance services within a portfolio of mixed commercial and residential properties in a non‑smoking environment. The role includes general maintenance and repair duties—including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, and preventive maintenance—and supports the housing management team in tenant maintenance administration.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain tools and parts inventory.

Ensure the maintenance area is clean and organized.

Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks in and around the facilities.

Conduct repair and renovation works before and after tenant move‑ins/move‑outs.

Repair and maintain common areas and equipment.

Monitor garbage removal and recycling activities.

Assist the housing team in maintaining functional operation of building systems.

Identify and coordinate with the direct manager on repairs and maintenance of common areas.

Inspect drains and gutters.

Supervise outside tradespeople for scheduled maintenance and assess quality of work.

Carry out unit and property inspections, completing required reports.

Carry out equipment inspections and services,



documenting results in prescribed reporting formats.

Display building management notices as required.

Maintain daily logs and documentation of tasks accomplished.

Assist coworkers with work orders and data entry.

Respond promptly to tenant maintenance requests and building emergencies, including after-hours.

Manage elevator preparation for deliveries and move‑ins/move‑outs.

Perform weekly security rounds and maintenance inspections of common property and equipment.

Supervise and maintain building and parking lot access per management standards.

Work with the Housing Team to maintain a preventative maintenance, inventory, and record‑keeping system.

Ensure all building maintenance work complies with building codes, WorkSafe BC regulations, and organizational policies.

Maintain and audit security camera systems, entry fob activation/deactivation, and fob tracking.

Assist with regular inspection of fire alarms and sprinkler systems.

Coordinate access for third‑party service providers and shut down building systems for tenant improvements or modifications.

Provide excellent customer service by responding in a timely manner to all tenants.

Complete other related duties as instructed by the Housing Manager.

Education, Training and Experience





Building Service Worker Certificate from a recognized institution (asset).

Minimum of 5 years’ related work experience.

Experience in basic carpentry, plumbing, drywall repairs, painting, and electrical work.

Knowledge of residential building construction techniques and practices.

Knowledge of maintenance and renovation methods, materials, and equipment.

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems (e.g., DDC security, HVAC) (asset).

Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act.

Knowledge of professional boundaries related to tenancy, privacy, and access to personal information.

Knowledge of safe work practices.

Knowledge of YARDI (asset).

Job Skills and Abilities

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Second language knowledge (asset).

Excellent customer service skills.

Excellent relationship‑building skills with trades and contractors.

Ability to use MS Office suite.

Ability to perform physical work such as lifting and maintenance activities.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced workplace.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Information

Criminal Record Check required.

Able to work on weekends and evenings as required.

Able to travel to different locations within Greater Vancouver as required.
