The role covers proactive tax planning, technical research, preparation and review of corporate, partnership, and trust returns.

This is a hands-on role for a tax professional with a focus on private real estate investment holdings largely in Canada. The Manager works closely with the various business units and with external auditors and advisors to deliver accurate and timely filings, advise business units, and support strategic transactions in a team-oriented workplace.

Responsibilities of the Tax Manager is as follows but not limited to:
Proactive business and estate tax planning drawing on a strong understanding of the business
Tax advice and support for the company's investment team and family office investment holdings
Research tax technical issues raised by business units and deliver clear recommendations
Track and communicate tax legislative and administrative changes affecting real estate partnerships, investment structures, and fund operations (recent examples include EIFEL and AMT)

Requirements
Chartered Skilled Accountant (CPA)



designation
5 + years of progressive Canadian tax experience, including post-designation experience in public accounting, a family office, or an in-house tax function
Hands-on proficiency with Taxprep Corporate and Partnership
Good knowledge of Canadian partnership taxation: ACB mechanics, at-risk rules, income allocation, and fiscal year-end rules
